How Every Story Can Be Life Changing

Are you a dreamer? Do you know that every story can be life changing? Do you believe that every story can give magic not only to our imagination but also to our lives? Look at how kids devour every story that they hear and read and how they create magical worlds from that stories.

“Lives can be changed by storytelling.”  

Every story is authentic because it is based on human experience. It brings us to the core of the experience, as what every good storyteller does in creating compelling stories.

Why do stories have a profound impact to each one of us especially to little children? Because our brain responds by looking for content to make sense out of the things that happen in our lives. The language processing part of our brain and any other area that we use when experiencing the events of the story are all activated.  And also, the one telling the story and the one who listens to that story (and reading, too) can synchronize their brains by simply planting ideas, thoughts, and emotions into the listeners’ brains.

Stories trigger our imagination to create genuine emotions and other behavioral responses. Every story that we read and listen to create our identities, help us justify every decision that we make, make us connect with others as we share joy, hardships, sadness, and purpose in life.  Through stories, we understand ourselves; we become creative as we engage in our imaginations and see things differently.

Susan Conley explains in her video about how they are teaching kids to write with their heart and how they can transform their lives by just telling stories. She believes that giving them 15 minutes to write their own stories will help them explore and access their inner lives and have connectivity not only to their fears, passions, hopes, and dreams but also to others around them.

According to her, the power of storytelling can help children see how fantastic their rich imagination and deep fantasy can be as they show their inner lives. That there are great people, who write some of the most amazing stories by taking risks on every page that they write to show others that they too can create something similar. And that, through the magical alchemy of living, writing, and teaching especially to a child the power that lies in storytelling, it can transform lives.
